Canadian Provinces Continue their Operations Amid COVID-19

The prominent provinces of Canada have undertaken a huge number of draws this year and have invited a large number of applicants in different streams.

COVID 19 has not been able to stop the immigration proceedings. Canada provinces are still holding regular draws and inviting candidates to apply for Permanent Residency status. Many provincial nominations are conducting draws despite the travel restrictions, and a huge number of invitations have been sent out.

Some of the notable provinces and their draws conducted during eth pandemic time are as follows-

Ontario

In the last couple of draws, there have been three draws conducted through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), and in these draws, the targeted individuals include Entrepreneurs, French Speakers, and Tradespeople. These were the occupations that were targeted in these draws. In 2020 so far, there has been a large number of Notification of Interests(NOIs) that have been issued.

The Highlights are-

  • 1440 candidates invited through Human Capital Priorities stream
  • 549 candidates invited through French-Speaking Skilled Workers stream
  • 190 through the Skilled Trades stream

Alberta

The Alberta Province has been Highly active and has invited eight draws so far. The Alberta express entry system stream has invited Express entry candidates with the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score as low as 300 points. AINP has its special measures that have been put in place during this time, and it has provided the candidates with the flexibility in the submission of the applications.

Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) has held five draws in the express entry and Occupation in-demand category during this time, and these categories should also submit an expression of interest in order to be eligible.

The draw that was conducted at the onset of Coronavirus has invited 205 people from 71 occupations to apply for a nomination.

British Columbia

British Columbia has also been highly active and has held regular draws, especially for those in the tech sector. The British Columbia province holds regular draws with 29 eligible occupations. Some candidates in British Columbia were also invited in the Skilled immigration and BC Express Entry Invitation rounds.

Manitoba

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has a lot of travel restrictions being imposed since 18 March, and there have been nine draws conducted since the year 2020 has begun. There have been 1808 Letter of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued by the province in this year under categories of Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education category.

Nova Scotia

The first draw of the province was held on 27 April 2020, and the French-speaking candidates were invited in this draw. The express entry candidates with the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 8 in French and scores of CLB 6 English were selected.
