Saskatchewan held the latest provincial draw and selected 279 candidates from Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams.

On April 8, Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held a new draw and selected immigration candidates for a provincial nomination. The applicants were from the International Skilled Worker category. There were 146 applicants invited in SINP’s Express Entry sub category and 133 through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory. In both subcategories, the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score was set at 70 points.

The Key Highlights of the Draw - Saskatchewan

  • ITA - 279
  • EOI score - 70

To be selected in the Saskatchewan Provincial Draw, the applicants required an Educational Credential Assessments to assess if the education is as per the Canadian Standards. The candidate also required work experience in one of the 58 in-demand occupations listed. There were medical laboratory technicians, social workers, and educational counselors in the eligible occupations, among others.

The Occupations In-Demand Subcategory

Skilled workers with experience in high-demand occupations can relocate through this program. The Occupations In-Demand subcategory is a base Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It is a pathway for those applicants who do not have an Express Entry profile.

The appellants without the Job offers are considered in the stream. To be considered in this stream, the applicants need to have an EOI profile created through the SINP’s online application system.

In Saskatchewan’s EOI system, the applicants are assessed as per the work experience, education, language ability, age, and connections to the province. The EOI point score is calculated out of 100, and the highest-scoring candidates are then issued an invitation. The applicant should have at least 60 points in the assessment grid.

Saskatchewan - Express Entry Subcategory

The Saskatchewan Express Entry subcategory is an enhanced PNP, and it is linked to the federal Express Entry system. Under this program, there are three immigration streams - Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

The Express entry immigration pathway is a point-based system where the high-scoring appellants are selected from the pool for ITA.

Candidates can create a profile in the Express Entry profile and choose Saskatchewan as the province of immigration. Those applicants who are selected under this stream are eligible for 600 bonus points in the Federal Express Entry Profile.
