British Columbia has selected 8 Entrepreneur candidates and 208 Skilled Worker and International Graduate in the latest draw announced on February 2.

British Columbia Immigration Nominee Program announced the latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on February 2, 2021. There were 216 Immigration applicants selected in the newest draw out, in which there were 208 Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates and 8 Entrepreneur candidates. The Skilled workers received invitations under the province’s Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration categories.

The Minimum Cut off score required in the Express Entry BC subcategories were:

  • Skilled Worker: 104
  • International Graduate: 100

The Applicants are selected from the Express Entry profile, and the shortlisted appellants who have received the nomination from British Columbia are eligible for an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points. These applicants received the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence under IRCC’s Express Entry system.

For the three Skills Immigration sub categories were the Cutoff score was set as below:

  • Skilled Worker: 98
  • International Graduate: 98
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 79

In the latest draw, the Impact of Coronavirus was evident. As in the recent draws, several sales and service occupations were excluded from this draw as well. British Columbia holds draws in several PNP categories and streams. There have been 740 invitations have been issued by the BC PNP so far in 2021.

The applicants who were to be selected in the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories should have a profile under BC PNP’s online portal and also be registered under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The applicants are assessed as per education, work experience, English proficiency, and employment location.

The Skills Immigration stream of British Columbia

This pathway is for applicants who have a  job offer in B.C. The Five categories under Skill Immigration are -

  1. Skilled Worker Category - who have a job offer and experience in a skilled occupation;
  2. Healthcare Professional Category - physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses or allied health professionals with job offers in one of 11 eligible occupations;
  3. International Graduate Category - who have graduated from a suitable Canadian university or college in the last three years;
  4. International Post-Graduate Category - Master’s or Ph.D. graduates from eligible B.C. post-secondaries in the natural, applied, or health sciences  and they don’t have a job offer; and
  5. Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category - with jobs offers in tourism, hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking. It also includes those in entry-level or semi-skilled positions living and working in the Northeast Development Region of British Columbia.

Entrepreneur Streams

B.C. selected candidates in this stream for the first time in two months. There were eight invitations issued under the BC PNP’s Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category and the cutoff score was set at 122.
