The total points score will be calculated out of 1,320, out of which 580 points will be given to human capital factors and 740 for factors related to Quebec’s labor market needs.
The Human Capital factors will include age, education in Quebec, work experience in a field where there is a shortage of work experience in the rest of Canada, and job opportunities inside and outside the Greater Montreal area. The applicants were invited from the International Skilled Worker category - SINP’s Express Entry subcategory and the Occupations In-Demand subcategory. On June 24, 2021, the Canadian government announced the latest Express entry draw with the second-lowest CRS score in the CEC only draw. The Comprehensive Ranking System score requirement (CRS) was set at 357. Before this, the lowest CRS score requirement was 75 points in the historic draw of February 13, 2021, in which 27,332 CEC candidates got selected for permanent residence.
Canada has the target of welcoming 401,000 new immigrants this year; thus, a lower CRS score in CEC-only draws appears to be a step to meet the goals.
