The Express Entry Selected 671 applicants in the recent draw on March 8. The CRS score limit was set at 739.

The Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), on March 8, 2021, Announced the latest Express Entry draw in which 671 applicants got selected from the provincial nomination category. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of selection was set at 739. It means that all the applicants who were from the PNP specific category and had a score of 739 were selected for immigration. The score requirement seemed high as per the earlier draws, but since all the applicants selected already had provincial nominations, thereby additional 600 bonus points in addition to the original human capital score, getting a score of 730 didn’t seem difficult. It means the original score should have been 139 without the bonus points.

The Key Highlights of the draw -

  • ITA sent - 671
  • CRS score - 739

The Express Entry Draw - 8th March 2021

The tie-break rule for the draw was set before February 16, 2021, at 19:10:25 UTC. the tie break rule helps select applicants from the pool who have the same CRS score. With the latest draw, the Invitations to Apply (ITA) this year has reached 38,657 so far. This number is three times more than last year around the same time. As 2020 selected fewer immigrants due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the IRCC this time has set an ambitious target of 401,00 newcomers in 2021. Most of the election this time as well will be through the Express Entry system.

Many invitations from IRCC were issued in the previous draw of February 13 when the IRCC selected 27332 appellants in a single draw. It was the biggest draw ever and historically a good low CRS score requirement draw as well.

Ideally, the express entry draws happen after every 15 days, but this draw was conducted after a gap of 22 days after February 13.

How does Express Entry System work?

Express Entry is an immigration pathway with three immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. The selection of the applicants is point-based, and those with the Highest ranking CRS score are selected from the pool of applicants.
