August 6, 2020, draw 159 has marked history in Express Entry draws as it is a rare draw of FSTP specific candidates. It is conducted to support Canada’s labor market needs in successful trades. It is the first FSTP specific draw of 2020 and the first one since October 16, 2019.
It is the Express Entry Draw number 159. The express entry has held two consecutive draws back to back. The previous draw was announced yesterday in which 3900 candidates were invited in an all program express entry draw, and the selection score was CRS 476.
For this draw, there are 250 Federal Skilled Traders Program (FSTP) candidates invited. The successful FSTP candidates require a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 415 to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA).

In the last two days, the Canadian government has invited 4150 applicants. This year has been a record-breaking year for Canada Immigration despite the coronavirus pandemic. Canada has already issued 61,850 ITAs in the year 2020, which is a lot of invitations since the time Express entry had been launched in 2015. This year a lot of program-specific draws were conducted due to the pandemic. The most popular one being two- the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) specific draw and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.
The Federal Skilled Traders Program is a rare draw to be announced in the express entry. The FSTP program was launched in 2013 and since then only seven draws have been conducted so far. This being the seventh draw of the FSTP program.

Due to the program's target nature, few ITAs eligible under the express entry program. In 2019, there ewer only 1000 ITAs out of 85300 that were issued in the FSTP program. One reason why the FSTP is so small is the lower CRS score than the candidates eligible for the federal skilled worker's program and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.
