The year 2021 has marked a lot of changes, and the latest change is in the Quebec point calculator system. The province has introduced a new points system to help select and rank the applicants in the Arrima expression of interest pool. The total points score will be calculated out of 1,320, out of which 580 points will be given to human capital factors and 740 for factors related to Quebec’s labor market needs.
The Human Capital factors will include age, education in Quebec, work experience in a field where there is a shortage of work experience in the rest of Canada, and job opportunities inside and outside the Greater Montreal area. For those in Montreal, they will get 180 points, and there are high points - 380 points for those outside the Montreal metropolitan area. The applicant can get additional points for spouse or common-law partner of the principal applicant assessment as well.
As per the speculation, the Quebec province is all set to conduct the first round of invitations through Arrima based new expression of interest scoring system.
The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) said “the launch of the expression of interest system will facilitate better alignment between immigration and the needs of the Québec labour market.”
The New scoring system is designed to optimize the use of the Arrima expression of interest pool as there will be classification of candidates for immigration as per their specific profile and background.
In case there are two appellants with the same score, then the applicants will be selected on the basis of the date and time of submission of the application.
