In 2018, The Manitoba province broke all records in terms of immigration by inviting 5207 candidates for Canada Permanent Residency (PR). It was the most massive nominations given since the start of PNP twenty years ago.  Hence, there are high expectations from Manitoba in 2019, and so far, it has been a great year with nominations in the region.

221 Foreign Workers and International Student Graduates Invited by Manitoba

The Province of Manitoba invited 221 candidates for the provincial nomination on 6th December through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw. The candidates were invited in the Skilled Workers, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education Stream categories.

Out of the 221 candidates, 18 candidates had a profile in the Express Entry pool. To be considered for the Manitoba region through the provincial nomination, the express entry candidates must have satisfactory work experience in Manitoba in-demand occupations apart from meeting other requirements.

The demarcation of the Letter of Advice to Apply (LAAs) was as follows:

Stream LAA's sent
Skilled Workers 165
Skilled Workers Overseas 23
International Education Stream 33

Twenty-three candidates of the Skilled Workers Overseas Category were directly invited through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Rest, in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category, the applicant should be working in a full-time, permanent job in the Manitoba region, and In the International Education Stream, the candidate should have certain in-demand skills.

There are three streams under the International education stream –

  • Career Employment pathway
  • Graduate Internship pathway
  • Student Entrepreneur pathway

In the latest draw of 6th December, the lowest score requirement in the Skilled Worker Manitoba stream was 522, and the lowest score requirement in the Skilled Workers Overseas was 718. With this draw, the nominations of Manitoba in 2019 have reached a glaring 7362, which is way more than the LAAs number in 2018. Hence, it can be safely presumed that 2019 is expected to break records.

What are the pertinent requirements for Manitoba?

To be selected in the Skilled Workers and the Skilled Workers Overseas category, the applicant should be registered with the Expression of Interest (EOI). The ranking for the Expression of interest for Manitoba is done out of 1000. There are points for education, work experience, age, language proficiency. The candidates who secure a high score they are shortlisted for LAA. 

Further, the Skilled Workers Overseas category only those candidates are shortlisted who can meet the labor market demand in the region. Moreover, the candidates are also expected to have a close working tie with the region due to close relatives, friends, family, or previous education or work experience.
