The express entry appellants with the minimum CRS score of 352 was selected for the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program.

The details of the February 16 draw were released in which the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program has selected 159 Express Entry candidates in the Alberta Express Entry stream. The selected appellants needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 352. If the appellation is successful, then the applicants are picked from the Express Entry pool.

The appellants who had the Express entry system profile were selected for the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program. The express entry program is an immigration system for skilled immigrants, and there are three streams in this category - Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

The applicants are provided a score based on the CRS score requirement. They are given points based on age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, and others. The applicants are selected as per the labor market requirement, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)'s regular Express Entry draw selects the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence.

The applicants who receive the Provincial nomination are eligible for 600 additional points in the Overall Express entry system score calculation. Thus adding 600 points, the lowest scoring appellants will get a total score of 952.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry System is the enhanced PNP for Express Entry candidates and designed for those candidates who have a strong connection to Alberta or help the Alberta government's economic development and diversification priorities. During the pandemic, Alberta was very particular about not increasing the coronavirus cases and only considered candidates who were already living and working in the province.

To be selected, appellants must have work experience in an eligible occupation. Alberta has a list of professions that they will not consider. There was an increase in the number of professions that are not included in the list to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in Alberta last year. The applicants who have received the invitation after November 1, 2020, can be selected through the Alberta Express Entry Stream in case they are working for an occupation that does not require an LMIA.

In 2020 the Alberta province was allowed to issue 6,250 nomination certificates. However, due to COVID-19, there were many restrictions, and Alberta province reduced their allocation to 4,000 nominations. All of these nominations were those which were issued by June 2020, and there were no draws held by Alberta Province in the second half of the year. For the year 2021, there were no provincial nominations that were allocated to Alberta, and the target has not yet been released.
