In an endeavour to provide more chances and flexibility to competent applicants, the IRCC has announced six new permanent residency pathways for 90,000 international graduates and essential temporary workers.

The Six New Permanent Residents streams are -

  • For essential workers in healthcare
  • For essential workers in other occupations
  • For international student graduates
  • For French-speaking essential workers in healthcare
  • For French-speaking essential workers in other occupations
  • For French-speaking international student graduates

These innovative programs are recently introduced to help the international graduates and essential workers who actively contribute to the Canadian economy to relocate easily. There are special public policies that will grant permanent resident status.

These pathways will help people who are -

  • Already in Canada,
  • They have helpful skills and talent to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The primary focus will be on temporary workers in Canada working in hospitals and long-term care homes. Apart from these frontline workers, international graduates with talent will also be sought after who help develop the economy.

From May 6, the applications will be acceptable from three new streams -

  • For temporary workers in the health care sector [20,000 applications]
  • Temporary workers who are working in other selected occupations [30,000 applications]
  • International students who have graduated from a Canadian institution [40,000 applications].

The above-mentioned three streams will remain open until November 5, 2021, or until the admission limit is met. For these streams, the eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • The appellants should have at least one year of work experience in healthcare or any pre approved essential occupation.
  • The International students should have completed the Canadian post-secondary program in the last four years. (not before Jan 2017)

The other three streams are designed with the idea of promoting the French language. For this special project, the target is bilingual or French-speaking candidates. In these streams, the French culture will flourish in Canada as temporary workers, and international students who have a grip on the language and can significantly contribute to the economy will find a grip in Canada.

Canada is planning to achieve its Canada Immigration level target of 401000 new permanent residents in 2021 by converting temporary workers into permanent residents and undertaking many program-specific draws. In such a scenario, introducing these six new programs will help proliferate the idea and integrate as many people in Canada as possible. These new programs will definitely lead to creating jobs in Canada and drive long-term growth in Canada.

These public policies will be applicable in 40 healthcare occupations and 95 other essential jobs in diverse fields, including caregiving and food distribution.
