Saskatchewan has invited provincial nomination applicants through its Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams. A total number of 418 applicants got selected.
On March 24 Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held a new draw, and applicants were selected for nomination from the International Skilled Worker category. There were 183 candidates selected from SINP’s Express Entry sub category, and 235 through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory. For both these categories, the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score was set at 70 points. The applicants also require Educational Credential Assessments to demonstrate that their education is as per the Canadian standard. The applicants also need to have work experience in one of the 78 in-demand occupations. Some of the eligible occupations are laboratory technicians, social workers, and educational counselors.
The Key Aspects of the Draw
The Occupations In-Demand subcategory helps those applicants who do not have an Express Entry profile. It is for highly skilled workers who have work experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan, but they do not have a job offer at hand.
To apply for Canadian immigration through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory foreign nationals should have an EOI profile in the SINP’s online application system. The EOI system selects competent immigration candidates by assessing them in quantified terms through calculating work experience, education, language ability, age, and connections to the province. The Score is based out of 100, and the highest-scoring candidates are nominated for Canadian permanent residence.
It is an enhanced PNP that is linked to the federal Express Entry system. There are three Subcategories in the system - Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. The applicants who are nominated through this category are eligible for 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System score.
