The first monthly draw of Prince Edward Island just got announced and selected 132 applicants on 20 January, 2022.

The Prince Edward Island released its new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw results on Jan 20. The latest draw selected a total of 132  immigration candidates. The candidates were invited from the Express Entry and Labour Impact, and  Business Impact categories. Out of the 132 applicants selected, most of the immigrants were from Express Entry, and Labour Impact, and the remaining 11 invitations went to Business Impact candidates. The least required score in this category was set at 72 points.

PEI announced its draw schedule ahead in the year and has chalked out the dates in advance as well. In 2021, P.E.I. invited 1,804 candidates; It was a big number where there were 1,697 of which were from the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams, and another 157 were from the Business Impact stream.

The PEI PNP Express Entry Category

The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is linked to the Express Entry, and it is an enhanced PNP. The applicants need to have a profile to be considered in the PNP stream. The Express Entry Stream is for skilled workers immigration and has three streams - Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. The minimum score requirement was calculated with the help of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score tool. The factors that helped in the point calculation were age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French.

The additional 600 points against the CRS score are given to the applicants who receive the nomination and subsequently receive the ITA. To be considered, the applicants need to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category helps skilled foreign nationals with a valid job offer in PEI get ITA. The three streams are Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.

Business Impact Category

Business Impact Category selects the applicants based on meeting the minimum provincial score requirement. The score requirement is different in every draw, and the invites are issued under the Work Permit Stream.
