Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) pick the applicants from the Express Entry pool after selecting through the tie-break rule. It helps decipher between the applicants who have the same CRS score. For the latest Draw, the tie break rule was set before February 18, 2021, at 04:04:56 UTC.
In the earlier previous PNP-only draw, the Canadian government had invited 940 PNP candidates for permanent residence. The minimum score requirement was 711, and till that date, it was the biggest Draw of its kind.
The pandemic situation has been curtailed but not ended. Thus, the IRCC has been holding only PNP- and Canadian Experience Class (CEC)-only draws for immigrant selection. Therefore, picking applicants who are likely to be already in Canada. The travel restrictions are scaling back, but the borders are still closed for non-essential travel; also, the flight ban from India has been extended for a month.
Despite the Pandemic, the IRCC is targeting to meet the Immigration targets. In 2021, the Canadian government plans to welcome 108,500 new immigrants through Express Entry-managed programs.
For this, a lot of PNP and CEC only draws are conducted. There are different score requirements in both the specific draws and the PNP score requirements are higher than the CEC specific draw because of the 600 bonus point allotted for nomination.
Express Entry System is a skill-based immigration program in which selection is points-based. It has three subprograms: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. The selection under this program is score-based and calculated with the help of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool.
The factors that help calculate the score are professional work experience, education, age, official language skills, and other factors. It is the high scoring applicants who achieve the ITA (Invitation to Apply).
