The announcement from the American Government came directly from President Donald Trump through his Twitter account on Monday. The immigration closure will be effective from Wednesday when the executive order will be signed. America is one of the most severely impacted nations by the invisible enemy of COVID 19 and has lost more than 35,000 lives in the battle, with more than 8,50,000 people infected. This, the move to stop all the immigration to the country with immediate effect, seems to be the right move in the present scenario.
The temporary suspension of Immigrations is expected to last for 60 days for the permanent Resident Visa holders. However, there are expected to be some exemptions. For some people, the move is also expected to be a relief form the economic consequences of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Canada is also highly affected by the pandemic, but despite the scenario, the Immigrations remain open with travel restrictions. The exemptions are put in place for temporary foreign workers and international students. Even the foreign nations are invited to submit their applications for processing of the Canada PR status.
