Canada ends the year with the last Express Entry draw being announced. This year invited a total of 107,350 applicants with the last draw of the years, selecting 5000 immigration candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 468.

The recent Express Entry Draw was also the last draw of the year 2020, in which 5,000 immigration candidates got selected. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 468 was set as the invitations' benchmark score. There is a dip in the CRS score requirement the previous two rounds. Before this, the last draw was on December 9, and the minimum CRS score requirement was set at 469 points. This time the requirement is one point lower with 468 points. With this, the number of Invitations to Apply has also reached 107,350, which is also the record-high number of invitations of a year.

The Key Highlights of The Draw - December 23, 2020

  • ITAs Sent - 5000
  • CRS score - 468

It was the fourth consecutive invitation round where 5,000 ITAs got issued for Canadian permanent residence. Since September 2, a consistent increase in ITAs has been witnessed in all-program Express Entry draws.

When the coronavirus pandemic had just started, then in the initial months, IRCC only conducted program-specific draws. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Canada's Government has acted wisely and taken steps to facilitate immigration processes and ensure that immigrations were not affected gravely due to travel restrictions.

Express Entry Program is a federal system of selecting skilled workers and has three federal economic-class programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. The highest-scoring applicants receive an ITA and get a Canadian permanent residence.

The tie-breaking rule for the December 23 draw was for applicants with the CRS score of 468, and it was for those candidates who had submitted the profile before June 4, 2020, at 13:39:44 UTC to receive an invitation. The trend of having a drop in the CRS score continued this time as well.

High immigration targets were announced in the coming days, and the immigrations are expected to be fully blown in Canada. Also, this has happened the first that after 2015 than the number of ITAs issued has exceeded 100,000.
