Saskatchewan, a Canadian province, issued 743 new invitations to applicants in its Occupation In-Demand and Express Entry system sub-categories in draws held on 06th of December 2018. Out of 743, 532 invitations were for the applicants in Occupation-In-Demand category and 211 invitations went to applicants in the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.

Occupation In-Demand is a sub-category for skilled workers who don’t have a job but have work experience in one of Saskatchewan’s in-demand occupations. The Express Entry-linked Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program(SINP) allows a province to nominate eligible candidates for permanent residence(ITA). It is the most valuable factor as it awards 600 additional points towards candidates’ ranking score in Comprehensive Ranking System, which implicitly assures an invitation from the Government of Canada to apply for permanent residence.

Analogous to federal Express Entry system, Saskatchewan has an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to select applicants through these sub-categories. EOI system ranks the interested candidates who have created the profile based on certain factors like education, work experience, age and proficiency in English or French and some other factors. After the allocation of scores to the candidates, those with 60 or more points enter into the pool of eligible candidates for either the Express Entry system or Occupation In-Demand sub-category.

Based on their score, a fixed number of highest ranked candidates are issued invitations through regular draws. The minimum score for the invitations held on December 6, 2018 for both subcategories was 61.

Saskatchewan adopted its EOI system in July, 2018. Since its adoption, December 6 invitation rounds were the sixth for both the sub-categories. A total of 4080 invitations have been issued by Saskatchewan since then, out of which 1763 were for Express system and 2317 were issued for Occupation In-Demand.

One of the criteria to be eligible for the Saskatchewan’s Express Entry sub-category is that Express Entry candidates must have work experience in high-skilled occupation found on the In-Demand Occupation List of the province. A job offer from a Saskatchewan employer is not mandatory. Likewise, it is not a must to have an Express Entry profile to apply to the Occupation In-Demand category.

One can use the Canada Visa Saskatchewan Expression of Interest (EOI) Points Calculator to find out one’s potential Saskatchewan EOI ranking score. This calculator will help in determining the potential score by answering a series of questions and assessing the responses against the SINP's unique points grid for the Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories.
